Listening to Horses: Mindfulness for Horse People
May 26 & 27
$275 - early bird rate, expires May 12th
Want to deepen your skill with horses?
Try a little mindfulness.
Join us at the Horse Sense farm for mindulness in 2012; broadening your understanding of horsemanship skills & deepening your presence to better connect with your own and all horses. We'll inquire into horses as an embodiment of the present moment, and as a way to align our mind-body-spirit. This awareness has an enormous impact on our practice as horse professionals, whether in the show ring, the therapeutic horsemanship field, the cutting arena, or in your backyard!
During this experience, we'll practice:
- Sitting & Walking Meditation
- Body Scanning & Yoga Practice
- Guided activities with horses
- A guided Labyrinth experience
Whether you are new to Mindfulness or have been engaged in a practice for years, allow yourself this opportunity to learn more from being (not doing) with horses.
Restorative Yoga
A day of peace in a natural setting
Join us for a day of restorative yoga in our beautiful pavilion, with our wonderful horses. Walk our outdoor labyrinth, participate in yoga—on the ground, AND on horseback!!
(Dates postponed until Sept.)
Mindfulness & Horses
What is mindful living? It's about paying attention and being awake in each moment. Horses know all about mindfulness. In the wild, their very survival depends on noticing changes in their environment, and they also use these skills in their interaction within the herd.
Horse Sense offers two retreats incorporating Mindfulness and Horses:
- Listening to Horses: Mindfulness for Horse People
- Equine Assisted Mindfulness: The Horse as Teacher (For Newcomers to Horses)
Descriptions of these two retreats are below.
Like horses, mindfulness for humans yields all sorts of advantages. If we are awake in each moment, we notice things about ourselves that have changed, we notice the good in our lives. We notice things that have changed that may not be beneficial. In other words, living mindfully allows us to fine tune our daily living to live in a healthy and happy manner.
At Horse Sense, we combine horses and mindfulness to help you develop these important life skills.
